Nine Life Changing TED Talks

If you’re an avid pursuer of intelligence and enjoy watching presentations, I’ve included a series of videos that can help you reach your pinnacle and elevate your current way of life.

This post is meant to share presenters that have great ideas on how to change your life and make more meaningful decisions.

Here below is a list of some of the best TED Talks that I’ve heard:

This video covers some of the essentials of developing self-confidence in yourself, so as a result you can increase your sociability around other people. When you develop your confidence you will elevate your chances to truly succeed.

This video covers a lot of good points on how to speak effectively to other people in order to captivate crowds of people for longer periods of time. There are certain habits that should be avoided such as excuses and gossip when talking to other people.

With this talk, it covers how leaders act different and help inspire action within other people. What is your drive and purpose? Why do you do what you do? Why do you get up every day in the morning? How do you present and market yourself or your products? People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you’re doing it. It’s important to not just hire people, but rather hire people who believe in what you’re doing and building.

With this talk Peter Sage covers various true life stories of himself and other people.  This speaker emphasizes living life like you’re truly loving it. Transform your life by creating lasting experiences and unleashing your true potential. Instead of eating too much, drinking too much, and working too much, there is a need to develop a greater purpose with society and developing oneself. To be balanced you need to attend to various areas of life such as spirituality, health, fitness, finance, and relationships.

In this talk it talks about finding order in the world of chaos. If you can lead your life like the conductor of an orchestra it’ll allow you create a lifestyle where you can control your tempo in order to speed up or slow done whenever necessary. Joy is enabling other peoples stories to be told and doing what really keeps you happy. Most people that make music or conduct orchestra’s do it because it makes them truly happy.

This talk mentions what really motivates people and how certain tasks can be affected by rewards. Daniel Pink covers intrinsic motivation versus extrinsic motivation. By watching the video you’ll see how Daniel covers how most people should shift to intrinsic motivation in order to find something that drives them from within by connecting a purpose to the things we pursue, rather than using extrinsic motives such as money, fame, and beauty. On the other hand, having intrinsic motives such as being independent, mastering an area of expertise, and discovering purpose can create much greater long lasting motive. We are driven by three things, autonomy: the urge to direct our own lives through independence, mastery: to get better and better at something that matters, and purpose: the yearning to do something that’s larger than ourselves.

This talk begins with the question of whether schools really increase or decrease creativity levels. The video also covers how education and technology is unpredictable for the future generations and how innovation will constantly play a role in our society. What is the true purpose of our universities? Academics and public education is designed to place students in universities. The real question is how are our degrees really impacting our job market and workplaces? Children and students need time to create and move around in order to think outside the box. We need to re-think how we approach learning and how we can create a lifestyle that allows people to flourish.

This particular TED Talk covers the subject of paying off financial priorities such as credit card debt and student loan debt by selling off material things that we don’t really need. It specifies how we should all take this advice in order to create more freedom to do what we really love by selling off junk. Develop clarity by stepping back and realizing what you really want out of your life. Life can be very scripted as mentioned in the video, but it doesn’t have to be. You have the choice to analyze what sort of life you want to project. Live with less and live life on your own terms by defining your vision of freedom. Start creating your future by selling off your crap!

In order to really help design a lifestyle that enables more freedom it makes sense to have different forms of passive income. The more forms of income that you can create for yourself, the more you allow yourself to trade away your hourly income wage for more time and freedom. Not to mention, when you create more forms of income it allows you the ability to pay off personal debts and daily expenses. The residual income that you build up allows you to make money off of things like business investments, books, movies, musical songs, or even real estate investments. Make your goal to elevate your passive income above your regular expenses. If you can accomplish such a feat, it will allow you to have financial freedom. Interesting, 60-70% of people in the UK hate their jobs. It’s important to invest in yourself and take time to find ways in which you can create passive income. Do you want to have the security that allows you to be less reliant on a specific job? What would you do if you didn’t have to trade your time for money? What would you do with the extra freedom of a lifestyle that brought in extra income on the side?
